In its former state, the abandoned quarry was a dusty, vacant void within the urban fabric. Situated along the city’s main traffic arteries, it used to bisect the adjacent neighborhoods and disrupt pedestrian flow. The project rehabilitated the quarry space while preserving its inherent historical values, creating a new civic hub that connected fragmented neighborhoods and established a unique ecosystem for Be'er Sheva and Israel. The initiation and planning of the park were a collaboration between Moriya Architects and Lola, Scape, and Topotek1, in partnership with the Bracha Foundation and the Be'er Sheva Municipality.
The design emphasized the quarrying processes and the exposure of historical layers. The park showcases the quarry's role throughout history as a fundamental element in the construction of Be'er Sheva during the Ottoman period. Through topographic and botanical design, several pocket gardens were created, each with a distinct character.

The GREEN Ring
Located at the upper street level, this area serves as a green envelope that functions as an urban space and an entrance to the park. A peripheral promenade was built along the edge of the spectacular quarry wall, offering viewpoints into the quarry and areas for relaxation. This zone also includes an amphitheater used for performances and community events.
The Visitors' Center and the Patio
These function as spaces for exhibitions, events, and artist workshops. The Patio is situated on the lower level of the park, opening into the internal gardens and linking the park's two levels.
The Inner Quarry Gardens
These are divided into several pocket gardens, including:
[+] An orchard and an urban oasis.
[+] The Byzantine Quarry area, which serves as a historical focal point.
[+] A promenade along the quarry wall, allowing for the observation and study of rock layers and their composition.
Various activity hubs scattered along the paths.
Sustainability and Water Elements The plan emphasized the use of runoff water to create seasonal displays of flow and ponding. Additional water features were included, such as a wading pool for refreshment during the summer and a waterfall area that creates a cooling micro-climate. At the foot of the quarry wall, a drainage channel was designed to simulate a small Wadi—a piece of urban nature that provides a rich habitat for various flora and fauna.
